Made by Club Flix, with support from Suited and Booted Studios and First Light Movies, Clippy was conceived as a film-within-a-film-about-filmmaking!  Having set themselves this extraordinary challenge Club Flix embarked on 2 writing workshops with writer/director, Mark Simon Hewis, and came up with the concept for Frederico and his inane paperclip film.

During pre-production some Club Flix members worked on script breakdowns, set design and casting.  During a camera  workshop with Doctor Who camera operator, Ben Coles, they developed their technical skills and put together their shot lists and with help from Phil Martin at the Natural Theatre Company, made a giant paperclip which actor Peter Willington wore throughout filming.

For they shoot they transformed the Rondo Theatre in Bath into a film studio for two days and then de-camped to the University of Bath car park for the exterior scenes.  Shooting both in a cinematic and documentary style during filming required a lot of concentration and strong communication between director Vicky Crocker, her ADs Gareth Evans and Melissa Denton and camera operator Liam Southall.  Mentoring them through the process were technical mentors Tom Whitworth and Dave Hamill and Production Manager, Morven Hughes.  The shoot was a great success with an early wrap on the last day!

Club Flix veteran, Matt Nesbeth, edited Clippy and the film was premiered at The Egg on Thursday 25th September 2008.
