Huw Allen on the Summer School shoot

I’m Huw and I was the camera man. In this years club flix summer school. The kit we used for filming was included sony z1 hdv camera, and SQN sound mixer, a boom pole, radio mikes and boom, field monitor.

On Monday, we filmed in the bar “back to mine” where I had to climb onto the bar and film someone’s POV. We also had to use a mirror to shoot the lead actors POV it was difficult to get the shots clean with nothing in them. The location was very difficult for sound because the low ceiling meant the boom kept dipping into shot. The actors worked fantastically under these conditions, to get a fabulous performance.

On Tuesday we moved to the Beechen Cliff School, and use their fitness room to shoot the gym scene, from our script. And for that I had to do the clapper board, witch meant writing the scene slate and take number so the editor knows what shot is what. Alia brought her camera bag for me to use, so I could put down markers during filming for the actor to know were to stand. And the air cans, to clean the lenses. We also had to film the montage running scene, and all the student house scenes, were we shot over 20 slates, with is really good within that short space of time
