Jason Prentice - A Somerset Vendetta
Film Title: A Somerset VendettaWhat is your film about: It's pretty crazy. In the simplest terms, a farmer is attacked in some woods. He and his friend attempt to uncover who might of attempted to kill him.
How did you get in made: I can't remember exactly how the original story idea came about. Jess had heard about a Club Flix night at the Rondo and we figured we'd give it a go, so we turned up, pitched our idea and to our surprise we were selected as the 1st bursary. Our film making mentors Rong and the Suited and Booted team went a long way. Thanks.
How did you make it: With lots of effort. In terms of enjoyment, writing was best for me personally. It's where you can let your imagination run wild. Directing was good too, although it's surprising how things often don't work as well, or for that matter work much better than what you had imagined. The editing was by far the most frustrating and boring part of the film making process, yet without doubt the most rewarding.
What's next: In terms of film making, I will definitely give it another go. I'd first like to see what kind of reaction Somerset Vendetta gets from various film festivals etc.
Top film making tips: Preparation without doubt is crucial. Know who you're working with. Know what you want out of a film but be prepared to adapt. Don't get hung up on something that you think 'must be in the film' just because it was funny or because you spent half an hour shooting it. The film you write, shoot and edit can vary quite a lot.
Favourite movies: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Pulp Fiction, The Green Mile
Funny fact about yourself: I've broken my leg four times in two years. You have to laugh. Place your bets.....
